Tohkayomatee R, Reabroi S, Tungmunnithum D, Parichatikanond W, Pinthong D. Andrographolide Exhibits Anticancer Activity against Breast Cancer Cells (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 Cells) through Suppressing Cell Proliferation and Inducing Cell Apoptosis via Inactivation of ER-α Receptor and PI3K/AKT/mTOR Signaling. Molecules. 2022 May 31;27(11):3544. doi: 10.3390/molecules27113544. PMID: 35684480; PMCID: PMC9182433. This study investigated andrographolide's impact on cell viability, apoptosis, and mechanisms involving the estrogen receptor and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways in breast cancer cells. Results showee that andrographolide reduces cell viability and induces apoptosis in MCF-7 (ER-positive) and MDA-MB-231 cells by modulating critical proteins in cancer cell survival. In MCF-7 cells, its effects were comparable to the drug fulvestrant, making andrographolide a potential alternative for treating resistant breast cancers. ------------------------------ anticancersynergies.com/
